liberation: war is over - bSides

the 2001 liberation CD took 21 months to produce, leaving many tracks left over. this is a best of "leftovers" collection, with a few fave tracks from the original 1999 War is Over disc, including the full "movie verion" of "war is over" a great nearly unheard Cheap Trick song called "Shelter" - that got tied up in... licensing... (but it is here).

STORY: Right after completion of the 1999 War is Over benefit disc, we stayed @ AudioMagic Recording Studios and did 24 track versions of 13 songs - rough mixed them and made a limited set of discs to share and sell.

The Tourists - "1979"
Bob James, Mark Lukich, Bob Kozak, Jef Allen & Tom Hauptman recorded a dress rehersal in Maxwell Music Studios before their first gig @ McVans in March 1979 (left). The band would change a few members and their name (Third Floor Strangers) before their first "official" release of "LORRAINE" in 1980.

Along with these tracks, studio demos "Before Your Eyes," I'll Make Yoy Understand" and "..." were part of a WBUF radio special broadcast with Jeff Hine in the summer of 1979.

Rare and unreleased, this band was "new wave" before new wave - with Pete Labonne @ the helm on rickenbacker gtr., keys, vox and songauthorship, Bob James on guitar & vox & tape machines, Bruce Eaton on drums and guitar, Dr. Dave "fishman" Smith on Drums & John "stu-boy" King on Bass. The show is now on CD but not slated for release yet.
